About the area

Langcliffe is a good base from which you can access a wide range of activities. The Settle-Carlisle railway is always a favourite, whatever the time of year: why not break your journey at the charming Cumbrian town of Appleby, home of the famous summer Horse Fair? For the more energetic, swimming, golf, horse riding and cycle hire are also available locally.

Although the village does not have its own shop or pub, the market town of Settle is only one mile from Langcliffe, and has an excellent range of pubs, restaurants and coffee shops. There is a delightful Victorian theatre, which hosts events throughout the year, and The Folly Museum which houses a selection of items relating to local are and also has changing exhibitions. The North Craven Heritage Trust will be opening a new museum devoted to Edward Elgar’s long-standing connection to Settle.
